David Harland
David has overall management responsibility for the business and continues to work as a consultant within the business advising clients on IT strategy, IT governance, service delivery and enhancing performance of the IT function.
David has a strong background in IT strategy, new product and systems development. Prior to James Patrick Ltd he held a number of senior roles including:
- IT Director (for HR systems) Barclays DeZoet Wedd responsible for systems across 22 countries;
- Head of IT at EMAP Consumer Magazines, where he was responsible for the restructuring and reshaping of the IT function delivering bottom line contribution.
- Product Manager at Peterborough Software for IBM AS/400 and ICL platform applications; he also developed the firms UNIX platform strategy.
An advocate of continuous education, he holds a post graduate diploma in computing and manufacturing, an M.Sc in Manufacturing: Management and Technology and has passed the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) exam. He’s been through Cranfield Business School’s executive development Business Growth Programme.
Andrew Harland
Andrew has overall responsibility for all software development from design to delivery and remains very much hands on, involved in the design and development of key systems.
He holds a BA (Hons) in Psychology and Sociology. Having been tempted into the technology sector after university, he has developed a broad range of technical knowledge and skills:
- VC++, COM, ATL, STL, XML, HTML, HTTP, IIS, ISAPI, NT4, JavaScript, C#, SQL, XSLT, MFC, CSS, Visual Basic 6, VBA, MS Office, MS Project.
Prior to James Patrick Limited, Andrew was responsible for the design and development of a number of software packages:
- a member of FIS’s ‘Software ‘Design Authority committee,’ Andrew was recognised as an internal authority on design and coding, providing support and guidance to colleagues. FIS specialised in software for the insurance sector and was CMMI level 3 accredited;
- re-engineered, design and developed the @site product based on Web technologies for Dialog Inc;
- responsible for migrating ADP’s DOS payroll to Windows:
- responsible for the design and development of a highly successful HR package for ADP Inc:
He has also worked on a number of public sector projects including the National Strategy for Police Information Systems (NSPIS) Custody system.
